Clubs & Societies

Extracurricular

The school provides all school pupils the opportunity to attend extracurricular activities every. The best thing is, this is during school!

Pupils are given a wide range of activities to choose from such as sports like football and table tennis, volleyball and basketball. The students get to join a different club so their experiences can be as varied as they wish!

Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. In addition to music and sport, extra-curricular activities include:-

College Counselling Program

In the spirit of cura personalis, the members of our College Counseling department are committed to helping students identify and apply to colleges that are good matches with regard to their aspirations, achievements, learning style and needs.

In order to reduce stress throughout the college search and application process, we strive to ensure that students and parents alike have the information that they need when they need it. We do so through the following methods:

• In-school presentations for students.
• Two-week College Guidance class in January of junior year, covering topics including testing, financial aid, and finding the right colleges.
• Individual and family meetings, from February of junior year through senior year.
• Intensive Senior Orientation assembly in August of senior year covering application procedures

In our resolve to give our students career guide and direction, the guidance and counseling department of our school organizes career day celebration which featured talks by professional experts in diverse disciplines and life careers.

Choir

St Joseph International Choir is a choir set up in since the inception of the school. It is made up of students from St. Joseph Secondary school Nyiman as well as past students. They take part in festivals all over Catholic Diocese of Makurdi and have had many achievements. Choristers after graduation automatically join St Joseph Alumni Choir.

Faith Formation

St. Joseph Secondary School Nyiman, as a Catholic school founded in faith, sees the spiritual development of our students as a primary component of our mission to enable the holistic development our students. Gospel values underpin all areas of school life and provide a moral context for all learning.

In the context of a respect for cultural and religious diversity, the Catholic liturgical year provides regular landmarks for our students as we mark feast days and seasons with prayer services, displays, school Masses etc. Students take an active role by participating in and preparing these liturgies.

As a result, sacraments were administered to deserving students. These were sacraments of first Holy Communion, sacrament of baptism and recently the sacrament of confirmation administered during the recent visit of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi.
