Curriculum Overview

The school operates the National Curricula. Junior Secondary Curriculum

The junior secondary school combines the Nigerian Secondary School Syllabus approved by NECO and State Government as well as the British Curriculum to enable students to pass BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examinations by NECO) and State (formerly junior WAEC).

The junior secondary school therefore offers a wide range of subjects as follows:

While continuous assessment of students’ progress is applied, internal examinations are given at end of term to monitor their progress. Preparation for external examination begins in junior secondary school one all through the junior section, culminating in mock examinations for the external exams in the second term of the third year to determine the readiness of the student for registration for the external examination at the senior section.

Senior Secondary Curriculum

The unified academic SJSSN curriculum prepares students for a choice of subjects in the areas of Science, Arts and Social Science after the first term of the first secondary school year. Choices are offered in accordance with student’s interest and strength. The choices and their core subjects are listed below for students to choose a minimum of eight, maximum of nine. Students are prepared for WASSCE (starts second term) and NECE (third term of third year) and will be given the opportunity to sit for JAMB/UTME in the 2nd term of third year.
